All About Me!
Updated: Jun 21, 2020
I wanted to start my first blog post with letting you know more about me! I have lived in Huntington, West Virginia, for a couple years now. I moved here to be with my wife, and we have been together for 2.5 years! We have a dog; his name is Grinch, and he is a grumpy old man. My life currently consist of being with my family and working. Some of my hobbies include yoga, meditation and eating (lol!).
My dream for working with children started when I was very young. I have always loved kids, but my brother is what started it all. We were both homeschooled for many years. I was from 1st up until 9th grade, and throughout those years I helped homeschool him. He made me realize how much I loved working with kids when seeing his face light up when he finally understood what I was teaching.
My freshman year of high school was rough, just beginning in public school, but it started me off into the path of my career. When I was sixteen I got my first nannying job, I watched a little boy from Friday to Sunday evening at their house. I cooked, cleaned and got up in the night with him. I started when he was a few months old and ended around 1 year old. I absolutely love this little boy, and I am still in touch with his family to this day. He is now 5 years old! My junior year I started Early Childhood Education at the Wood County Technical Center. It was a two year program that prepared me to work in daycares, public schools and anything involving kids. I also worked in the daycare attached to the college and interned at a pre-K during my time at the technical college. This made me fall in love much more with working with kids. I had mentors that taught me what I know today, and the class really prepared me with hands on learning.
After high school, college was a rough road for me, and I ended up not finishing. I also worked at Claires for many years and at one point was the assistant manager. This job was awesome, I pierced ears, did birthday parties and took care of customers. I left this job to start working in daycares but quickly found that I wanted to have more of a one-on-one relationship with the children and their families. This is where I knew nannying was exactly where I wanted to be.
I've had a few nanny families along the way, and I've loved them all! My journey hasn't ended, it is only beginning. I want to use this website to get my name out there, to meet more people and to give my word of advice along the way. My blog will consist of research on different topics but also information I have gained along the way. Please contact me if you have any questions! I look forward to hearing from you all!
